Applied Insight Expands SHIFT Cloud Platform to Support AWS’s Top Secret-West Region

Cloud leader advances telework options for intelligence community missions

WASHINGTON, Jan. 25, 2022 – Applied Insight, a cloud technology leader serving federal government customers, announced today that its patented cloud emulation platform, SHIFT™, has added support for a new cloud region – Amazon Web Service’s (AWS) Top Secret-West. Uncleared software developers can now build and test software in a SHIFT environment that mirrors Top Secret-West, knowing that their software will retain full functionality once deployed to the restricted region.

As cloud service providers release new regions, such as AWS Top-Secret West, we emulate them in SHIFT, so our customers can immediately leverage these regions for their missions.”

Software built in commercial clouds usually breaks when deployed in secure government cloud environments. SHIFT provides a uniquely realistic experience of these air-gapped cloud regions, so uncleared and remote developers can build and test software destined for classified workloads. SHIFT performs deep application programming interface analysis to identify errors and specify remediation, so software works as expected once deployed. Since the software is built on the “low side” and pre-validated with SHIFT, government and industry customers can speed the delivery of advanced capabilities to classified missions and reduce the overall costs of development.

Applied Insight received the Industry Innovator Award for SHIFT, as part of the 2020 Government Innovation Awards presented by the PublicSector 360 media organization. SHIFT emulates cloud regions at multiple classification levels, including AWS Top Secret East, AWS Secret, AWS GovCloud and Microsoft Azure Secret.
