Applied Insight Receives Appraisal as CMMI Level 3 Maturity Organization
April 13th, 2018
WASHINGTON, April 13, 2018 — Applied Insight, a leading technology firm empowering customers across defense, intelligence and federal civilian communities with failsafe mission solutions, announced today it has been appraised at Level 3 of the CMMI Institute’s Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) for Professional Services. The appraisal was conducted by ProcessWorks, Inc., working together with Bob Pomietto, Applied Insight’s senior quality assurance manager and a longstanding CMMI member.
“Our CMMI Maturity Level 3 rating is a great achievement for our team and an important milestone that reflects our well-established process discipline,” said Greg Walker, president of Applied Insight. “These processes are at the heart of our ‘Accountable Innovation’ approach to solving technology problems for customers. They commit us to assuming full responsibility for the ability of the systems we design and operate to effectively serve the people who need them to do their jobs better. It’s an approach that our people embrace and our customers value.”
“At AI, we believe that technology is never an end in itself. Its true power rests in its value to people working in specific contexts with unique goals,” said Michael Kelleher, AI’s chief operations officer. “Technology has to be developed and applied in ways that reflect how those people work and what they are seeking to achieve. The processes we follow are geared to that objective, and we are proud to have them recognized in this way as part of our commitment to continuous process improvement.”
CMMI is a capability improvement approach that provides organizations with the essential elements of effective processes that improve their performance. CMMI, a registered trademark of Carnegie Mellon University, is a collection of best practices designed to promote improved performance in any organization. It is considered a global standard for efficiency.
An appraisal at Maturity Level 3 indicates the organization is performing at a “defined” level. At this level, processes — which are described in standards, procedures, tools and methods — are well characterized and understood. The organization’s set of standard processes, which is the basis for Maturity Level 3, is established and improved over time.
