Strengthening Collaboration for the IC

Customer Challenges

With innumerable classification, security and complexity issues, it’s no secret that federal agencies are challenged when it comes to modernizing their IT infrastructure. An Intelligence Community customer established an initiative to design, build, sustain, and operate the campus wide Enterprise IT Infrastructure required for 24/7 operations. They needed to find a way to create a common IT operating environment for all end users across various agencies and geographic locations to increase collaboration and standardize administration and engineering.

AI Solution Features

AI helped to deploy one of the largest, and fully accredited, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure solutions within the Intelligence Community. We drew on our experience of working across the IC to design a customized persistent VDI solution. Our approach created flexible workstations, secure virtual environments, networks, with system engineering to ensure the effective transition of legacy systems into a common IT operating environment without any loss of data performance.

Benefits to the Customer Mission

We enabled the customer to accomplish their goal of building a common IT operating environment for all end users. Our work has led to expanded project responsibilities and the opportunity to replicate the VDI solution across all of the external sites, worldwide. Specifically, our approach achieved:

 

  • A future-proofed design that facilitates expansion to up to 250K endpoints
  • Successful virtualization of traditionally non-targeted items like Microsoft SQL, Exchange, and Oracle on Linux
  • Reduced cost of physical infrastructure
  • Greater workforce flexibility
  • Rapid provisioning of secure, newly added IT machines and entities
  • The availability of unclassified work outside of the physical campus environment
